Eric Abidal, the sporting director of FC Barcelona is another casualty in the ongoing gale of re-organisations sweeping through the Spanish club.
He was relieved of his position in a statement released today by the club.
This is a fallout of the string of woes suffered by the club in recent time. First was the loss of the La Liga title to Spanish rival, Real Madrid and the recent humiliating defeat by the German side, Bayern Munich in the ongoing UEFA Champions League.
Recall that coach Quique Setien was sacked yesterday by the management of the club.
“FC Barcelona and Eric Abidal have reached an agreement for the ending of the contract that united them,” the club said on its website.
