An unnamed 100 Level student of University of Calabar (UniCal) was publicly humiliated following her refusal to participate in the age-long baptism of fresh students by their mostly male colleagues.
The incident happened on Friday, December 2, 2022 during the school’s matriculation ceremony.
It was gathered that there’s a ritual in the school where old students ‘bath’ the new students with water as a form of welcoming them into the school. However, the young girl was didn’t want to participate in the so called ritual.
Inspite of the lady’s refusal to participate in the activity, the group of male students, against her wish, forcefully and collectively continued to pour water on her while asking her if she “wanted to fight.”
The harassment was so intense that her skirt fell off her waist in public, leaving her with only her panties on.
