JUST IN: Ex-Minister, Paul Unongo Is Dead

Former Minister of Steel Development in the second republic, Wantaregh Paul Unongo, has reportedly died, according to family sources.

He was 87.

The source said the Octogenarian had been ill for a while and eventually died today at a hospital in Jos, Plateau State, where he had been receiving treatment.

The source said the Tiv Traditional Council would soon make a public announcement of the demise of the former Minister.

Born on September 26, 1935 in Turan, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue state, Wantaregh Unongo a humanist was the pioneer Secretary General of the defunct Nigerian People’s Party, NPP, and an ally of the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.

He was also the Convener and former Chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF.
