Kidnappers release 27 abducted Kaduna College students

Tuesday protests by the parents of abducted students of College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka in Kaduna State has paid off as 27 of the 29 students kidnapped in March, were released by their abductors on Wednesday.

Reports indicate that one of the intermediaries who collected the freed students at a designated point confirmed the development to security operatives on Wednesday.

Recall that one Mr Abdullahi Usman, who is the Chairman of the Parents’ Committee, of the school also confirmed the release of the students by bandits to newsmen on Wednesday in Kaduna.

He explained that the victims were released some minutes past 4pm around the Kidanda area in Giwa Local Government Area of the state, and were on their way back to the state capital.

Usman, however, refused to disclose the amount paid as ransom to the bandits for the release of the students.

Authorities in the state and the Kaduna State Police Command have yet to confirm the latest development.
