#MOBOAwards: Wizkid Wins ‘Best African Act’

Nigerian-born Afro Music star, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has won MOBO Awards’ “Best African Act” for 2020.

The Awards ceremony held virtually on YouTube Wednesday evening.

“Congratulations to @wizkidayo on an amazing year, which is now topped off by him winning Best African Act at 2020,” the organisers tweeted.

In a video message, Wizkid hailed MOBO Awards and his fans for their support.

“My people, this is Starboy. I just wanna say a big thank you to Mobos. Big thank you to every African child. Big thank you to every Wizkid fan out there supporting my brand, supporting my music. You know, I really do appreciate that. God bless you,” he said.

Wizkid dropped his highly anticipated 4th studio album “Made in Lagos” in October. The project featured stars like Skepta, Burna Boy, Ella Mai, Damian Marley, among others.

The “Best African Act” category had a competitive lineup of stars like Davido, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Fireboy DML, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, among others.

The MOBO Awards ceremony is an annual music award presentation honouring achievements in “music of black origin”, including hip hop, grime, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music.
