Two FSARS operatives arrested in Lagos, IG bans all tactical patrols nationwide

Must read

For conducting themselves in a manner that tarnishes the image of the Nigeria Police by extorting and intimating innocent civilians, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested two operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad FSARS on Saturday.

In the same vein, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has issued a directive, banning all routine patrols by FSARS operatives across the country.

The arrested police officers are Inspectors Sale James and Monday Uchiola, and their civilian collaborator, Okechukwu Ogbonna.

Sources told Fedredsnews that the arrested officers will soon face disciplinary panel while Ogbonna, their civilian accomplice will be charged to court.

The new directive by the IGP is in deference to calls by many Nigerians, amongst them celebrities, for the scrapping of the police tactical squad on the ground that most of them are criminals in police uniform.

Amongst celebrities that have joined the train of condemnations are Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, Don Jazzy and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.
