The Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu on Thursday described his deputy, Agboola Ajayi as. agreedy man who lacks contentment, adding that he paid him N13 million every month as running grant.
The governor said this while responding to a question on the state-owned Radio Station, Alalaye FM in Akure, the state capital.
He said Ajayi had a free hand to operate with unfettered access to all state properties and to his office, stating that two ministries were given to him to manage but the deputy governor was never contented.
“Agboola Ajayi is the highest-paid deputy governor in Nigeria as I speak. He earns more than the deputy governor of Lagos State. He earns more than N13m monthly as running grants for his office
“Ajayi is just a greedy man that lacks contentment. I gave him a free hand to perform as a deputy governor. I gave him two ministries to run. He constructed roads. He built a number of schools. His wife also built a number of schools. The list is endless
‘He was even nicknamed’ Arakunrin kekere. So, a man that would betray you will betray you. I have left Ajayi to God and prosperity.
He expressed optimism about his chances in the October 10 governorship election, Akeredolu stated, “We have been doing our best for this state; all the abandoned projects of the past administration have been completed.
“We have rehabilitated and constructed over 700 primary schools in this state; we have improved our education system. We have received a loan to complete the abandoned Owena water project and we will do it. We are also working on five dams; there are so many things in our plans to do for the state.”
