Nigeria’s premier financial institution, First Bank of Nigeria Limited has announced the confirmation of Olayinka Ijabiyi as its substantive Group Head for Marketing and Corporate Communications.
The appointment takes effect immediately.
In a statement released on Friday, the bank said the move underscores its commitment to strong corporate governance as it continues its growth and transformation agenda. Ijabiyi had been serving in the role in an acting capacity since December 2024.
According to the Bank, Ijabiyi brings over 25 years of experience spanning financial services, telecommunications, media, and international development. In his new capacity, he will oversee the bank’s integrated marketing and corporate communications strategy, covering brand and reputation management, executive positioning, corporate responsibility and sustainability, as well as strategic communications aligned with business objectives.
Ijabiyi joined First Bank of Nigeria in 2011 and has held several senior roles within its marketing and communications division. His previous positions include Head of Brand Strategy and Special Projects, Head of Digital Marketing, and Head of Brand and Stakeholder Management.
Before joining the bank, he worked with leading organisations such as the British Council, MTN, MultiChoice, and Etisalat Nigeria.
Ijabiyi holds a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti. He is also a fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
