Open grazing no longer attainable, should be stopped —Yakasai

Salihu Yakasai, son of front-line northern politician, Tanko Yakasai, has called for the banning of open grazing in the country.

Yakasai, who was a former media aide to Governor Abdullahi Gandujuje of Kano state was reacting to a video on social media that shows a helpless woman in Ogun State lamenting as cows grazed on a vegetable farm while the herders watched.

Speaking via his Twitter handle, Yakasai said, “This is totally unacceptable and stands condemned. Open grazing is no longer attainable and should be stopped immediately. This is the root cause of the farmers/herders crises in this country & only God knows what it will lead to if allowed to continue. This should be BANNED!”

Recall that the young Yakassai was fired by Governor Ganduje in February for criticising the Buhari administration over its lack of political will to stem the tide of insecurity in the country.

He was subsequently arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS) for interrogations February 27 and released on March 1.
