Popular Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has trademarked her name.

The movie star made this known via her Twitter page on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

Beyond her show business accomplishments, she is also applauded for her remarkable humanitarian efforts.

Omotola is one of the pioneers of the video film era of Nigerian cinema, becoming one of the most-watched actresses in Africa.

In the year 2013, she was honoured in Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world alongside Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Kate Middleton

Trademarking her name means all her projects including movies, reality TV shows, and even photos are protected legally.

The laws governing trademark in Nigeria are Trade Marks Act, Cap T 13, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 (“TMA”) and the Trademark Regulations 1990. The Act defines a mark as including a device, brand, heading, label, ticket, name, signature, word, letter, numeral, or any combination thereof. Trademarks are used to identify and distinguish the source of the goods of one party from those of others in the course of trade

Since her Nollywood film debut in 1995, Omotola has appeared in over 300 films, selling millions of video copies.
