COVID-19: Again, Lagos postpones civil servants’ resumption till Feb. 26

Must read

The Lagos State Government has recanted on its earlier directive for civil servants to resume work on Monday, February 1.

In a fresh circular issued on Sunday, February 31, 2021, the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Olunola said Governor Sanwo-Olu has approved the postponement of resumption date for civil servants from grade 14 and below to Friday, February 26, 2021.

He said this new directive stems from government’s concern over the rise in the second wave of the dreaded Covid-19 virus.

The circular further stated that the directive “excludes essential duty staff, first responders, as well as officers saddled with assignments in the weekly Duty Rosters of their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

“Furthermore, public servants are advised to stay safe by observing all COVID-19 Protocols, such as Physical/Social Distancing, regular use of face mask and hand hygiene.”

Earlier, Sanwo-Olu banned indoor gatherings of more than 50 persons in the state except for religious reasons.

He said that Lagos State continues to be the epicentre of the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.
