#EndSARS: Oba Akiolu returns to palace after two months

Must read

After more than two months after he was whisked away by soldiers when hoodlums invaded his Iga Idugaran palace on Lagos Island, the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has finally returned to his palace.

In a video posted on Twitter by the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Health, Oreoluwa Finnih, the monarch is seen wearing a mask, dancing towards the palace with his entourage.

Finnih tweeted, “Our daddy is back home… Oba of Lagos, HRM, Alayeluwa Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu’s triumphant entry to Iga Idunganran Palace, today, Friday, January 1, 2021.”

Recall that the hoodlums that invaded his palace on October 21, 2020, ransacked the ancient palace and made away with the monarch’s Staff of Honour and other valuables while a number of exotic cars were either destroyed or burnt down.

It took the timely intervention of soldiers to rescue the septuagenerian king from the onslaught of the hoodlums.

Lagos Island, which was one of the most affected local governments during the protests, witnessed the burning of police stations and the family home of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
