Ondo Decides: Akeredolu secures endorsement of APC leaders for second term

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, the All Progressive Congress (APC) flagbearer in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State has secured the support of the party’s leadership.

Rising from a crucial meeting today in Akure, the state capital, the leaders, including other former contestants, agreed to put aside individual and group ambitions to ensure the needed victory for Akeredolu in the October 10, 2020 election.

According to the conveners of the meeting, the primary goal of the party is to broaden and strengthen the popularity of the party in the state so as to be able to deliver dividends of democracy to its people.

Speaking to reporters at the end of the meeting, the pioneer Chairman of the party in the state who was also a governorship aspirant, Isaacs Kekemeke said: “We have returned from the battlefield and we have decided to work together as a party, a united, indivisible party so that we will all together win the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

“We have decided to support the candidate of our party, Governor Akeredolu on the October 10, 2020 governorship election. We have resolved that we have no other home or another party than the APC and we have no other candidate than to support governor Rotimi Akeredolu for the second term.

“We have all decided to work together as a party so that they can jointly win both the local government and governorship elections together. We have decided to bury our grievances and support Akeredolu. We have decided and realized that our party is bigger than all of us and we have also applauded the governor for his steps.

Our governor has addressed us today where he titled his speech a new beginning and I’m assuming that what you are going to see from today onwards is a bigger APC, a more united party, a greater party and a party that is ready to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state. A party that is reengineered to deliver; we can only be better and that is our resolution.

Earlier at the meeting, the governor called for a new beginning where party cohesion will be not be sacrificed on the platter of personal interest.

“Persuasion, negotiation and consensus-building should be the hallmark of the new improved All Progressive Congress in Ondo State.

Other attendees, apart from the governor and his running mate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa include Pius Akinyelure, Bankole Oluwajana, Paul Akintelure,  Isaacs Kekemeke, Ajayi Borrofice, Olusola Oke, Segun Abraham, Bayonle Ademodi, Bode Sunmonu and Ade Adetimehin
