Content creator and philanthropist Mitchell Mukoro, popularly known as King Mitchy, has issued a public apology following weeks of online controversy surrounding her actions and comments on social media.

In a video posted on her Instagram page on Thursday, the influencer admitted she had reflected on her behaviour and accepted responsibility for her actions. She apologised to the public and to several prominent figures she had mentioned during the dispute, including Seyi Tinubu, activist Martins Otse (popularly known as VeryDarkMan), and Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

“I’m ready to be held accountable for my actions,” King Mitchy said in the video. “For some days I’ve thought about my behaviour, and I know that I was wrong.”

She particularly addressed an incident during a livestream in which she was seen consuming a substance believed to be bleach, describing the act as a mistake and acknowledging the influence she has on young followers.

“That was very wrong of me because there are young girls that look up to me, and I know I disappointed a lot of people,” she said.

Turning to Seyi Tinubu, she offered a direct apology, noting that while she had apologised privately before, she felt it was important to do so publicly as well.

“My boss, ST, I’m so sorry. I know I apologised privately, but I did not disrespect you privately. I disrespected you publicly, so I want to apologise publicly,” she said, adding that she would never take his support for granted.

King Mitchy also apologised to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, kneeling during the video as she expressed regret for bringing the monarch’s name into the controversy.

“I’m so sorry, sir… I’m sorry for bringing your name into this,” she said.

Addressing VeryDarkMan, whom she described as a “brother,” the influencer said she had gained a better understanding of his activism after reflecting on the situation.

“You’re fighting for Nigerians, and we can make Nigeria a better place,” she said. “You need more supporters, not people to fight you. I’m sorry, my brother.”

The controversy surrounding King Mitchy began in late February when she announced that she had renovated a dilapidated school in six days, suggesting that meaningful change in Nigeria could happen quickly with genuine commitment.

Many online users interpreted her remarks as a subtle jab at VeryDarkMan, who responded by accusing her of being used as a political tool to improve the public image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Tensions escalated after King Mitchy posted what she described as a private social media exchange with the Ooni of Ife, stating that “even this king” had contacted her. The post triggered backlash from social media users who accused her of disrespecting the monarch.

The situation intensified further when VeryDarkMan alleged that Seyi Tinubu was funding her charitable activities.

Amid the growing criticism, King Mitchy said she also lost access to her business Instagram account.

The controversy reached a dramatic point during a livestream where the influencer, appearing visibly distressed, was seen consuming a substance believed to be bleach while viewers pleaded with her to stop.

Shortly afterwards, her management posted a statement on her Instagram page claiming she had died at Prime Care Hospital in Abuja after doctors were unable to revive her. The announcement shocked followers and quickly spread online.

However, the statement was later withdrawn, with her management clarifying that she was alive and recovering. Before the correction was issued, the hospital had already denied the claim, stating that the influencer had neither been admitted to nor died at the facility.

Earlier in the dispute, Seyi Tinubu had also publicly denied any involvement in the feud between King Mitchy and VeryDarkMan.
