Popular Nigerian comedian and social media personality Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggy, has reportedly been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot wound while filming a comedy skit.
Sources told Fedredsnews.ng that the incident occurred under the Sango-Ota bridge in Ogun State during a video shoot. According to the source, the content creator was injured while recording a scene with members of his production crew.
“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. We don’t yet know exactly how it happened, but members of his crew who were present rushed him to the hospital immediately,” the source said.
Broda Shaggy was initially taken to Blooming Care Hospital, where doctors stabilised him and treated the gunshot wound.
After receiving emergency care, he was transferred to the better-equipped Duchess International Hospital for further treatment. Sources said he is currently recovering there.
Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the police were notified after the injured entertainer was brought to a medical facility.
“The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility. Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer popularly known as Broda Shaggy,” she said.
Adebisi added that officers met the comedian on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh.
She noted that although the shooting reportedly occurred in Sango-Ota—outside the Lagos command’s jurisdiction—police authorities are continuing investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
