Minister Nnaji Quits Over Forgery Scandal

Must read

Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has resigned under a cloud of controversy.

His exit follows weeks of public outrage and Premium Times reports alleging that the minister forged academic certificates.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted his resignation, according to a statement on Monday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.

“The President has accepted Nnaji’s decision, which came following some allegations against him,” the statement read.

Appointed in August 2023, Nnaji wrote in his resignation letter that he was a “victim of political blackmail,” while thanking the President for the opportunity to serve.

Tinubu thanked Nnaji for his service and wished him well in his future endeavours.
