After festive price support, Dangote Refinery realigns PMS prices to sustain affordability and market stability.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has announced a price adjustment for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), setting the gantry price at ₦799 per litre, while MRS retail outlets will sell at ₦839 per litre.

According to a statement signed by the company’s Digital Media Manager, Branding and Communications, Victor Ogunyinka, the price realignment became necessary to ensure long-term market stability and affordability following the conclusion of the festive period.

The refinery reaffirmed its commitment to stable pricing and uninterrupted nationwide supply, recalling that it implemented a temporary price support intervention during the festive season to ease financial pressure on Nigerians amid increased household spending. This marked the second consecutive festive period in which the refinery absorbed significant costs in the national interest, including logistics support in 2024 and a price reduction in 2025.

Despite the reduction, the company noted that many filling stations failed to reflect the lower pump price, depriving consumers of the intended benefits.

With the festive season now over, prices have been modestly adjusted to sustainable levels that support continued affordability and market stability.

Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, disclosed that the refinery supplies about 50 million litres of PMS daily, with nationwide distribution running smoothly. He added that the refinery’s flexible design allows it to process various crude and feedstocks, ensuring uninterrupted supply even during maintenance activities.

“As a domestic producer, Dangote Petroleum Refinery continues to shield the Nigerian market from import-related volatility and external supply disruptions, while remaining a stabilising force in the downstream sector,” Bird said.
